WHO: Fully vaccinated adolescents and adults with all types of developmental disabilities including Aspergers, age 15-40 with a skilled and experienced speech therapist, Rebecca Wynne.
WHEN: New dates TBD once it is safe to gather in groups.
All abilities welcome to apply including those who have AAC devices, are fully verbal, or who have communication skills that require refinement and/or development. Only participants with similar abilities will be grouped together. Max 4 participants per group (minimum 3 required).
WHERE: Bothell North Creek Schoolhouse at Centennial Park
WHAT: 6 sessions, 75 minutes each; group speech-language therapy to develop social skills required for work, school and life; includes conversational skills such as topic maintenance, introduction and shifts, how to make friends, appropriate behaviors based on context, dating and relationships, 'hanging out', spatial awareness of others and a whole host of other issues that commonly affect this special group of people.
Free parent group facilitated by Nithya Siva, SLP 3x for each group during this session in the same location as the group.

Rebecca has been an SLP working with adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities for the past 16 years. She currently works in a Snohomish County School District. For the past 5 years, Rebecca has had an increasing interest in social communication and how it affects interpersonal relationships for those with disabilities. She has co-taught social communication classes and has attended many continuing education courses on sexual education. She recently completed certification in teaching sexual education to people with developmental disabilities.
